HomeBass Festival Collapse: Orlando EDC Weekend Event Implodes as Organizer Leaves Hundreds Stranded

home and bass edc orlando cancelled

Guests paid thousands for “resort takeover” only to find no rooms, no refunds, and eerie Fyre Festival parallels

Orlando, FL

What was supposed to be a weekend of poolside DJ sets and bass music during EDC Orlando has turned into a full-blown festival fiasco, leaving attendees stranded at hotel lobbies with nowhere to sleep and thousands of dollars in limbo.

The HomeBass Festival, scheduled for November 7-9, 2025, has effectively collapsed after the DoubleTree Hilton Universal Orlando canceled the event’s room blocks—citing non-payment from organizer Brian Thomas.

$2,200 Packages, Zero Rooms

For many festival-goers, the nightmare began when they tried to check in. Despite paying between $1,800 and $2,200 for “all-inclusive” packages nearly a year in advance, guests discovered their reservations didn’t exist.

“I’m trying to check in, I paid for a room and early passes for $2,200 almost a year ago and the hotel is saying I have no reservation there,” one furious attendee posted online. “Your number goes straight to voicemail. You won’t respond to emails or comments. You’re giving Ja Rule Fyre Festival fail.”

Photos and videos circulating on social media showed exhausted attendees sprawled across the Westgate Resort lobby floor, surrounded by luggage, with hotel staff unable to help.

“Find Your Own Room” — The Email That Sparked Outrage

Late in the day, Brian Thomas sent an email to ticket holders that only intensified the chaos:

“We’re currently working through a major issue with the hotel. Please go ahead and secure your own room; we’ll be refunding you for tonight’s stay value ($350) in full.”

Thomas claimed that everything would be “resolved by tomorrow” and that HomeBass staff would be in the lobby at 11 AM to issue updated Westgate confirmations.

But by then, the damage was done. Attendees had spent hours trying to contact organizers with no response, and trust had evaporated.

A Pattern of Broken Promises

This isn’t the first time Brian Thomas has left festival attendees in the lurch.

In September 2025, Thomas organized the Dirtybird CampINN at the same DoubleTree hotel over Labor Day weekend. According to multiple reports, Thomas failed to pay the hotel bill, resulting in attendees—who had already paid Thomas for their packages—being charged again by the hotel.

“Despite Dirtybird CampINN’s repeated claims this past week that the hotel bill was being resolved, DoubleTree confirmed today that no payment has been received,” The Festive Owl reported at the time.

Attendees were forced to choose: pay the hotel a second time or lose their rooms.

Unpaid Bills, Missing Wages, Disconnected Phones

The problems extend beyond hotels. Multiple sources report:

  • Unpaid wages to staff and artists dating back to September
  • Outstanding vendor bills from previous events
  • Unanswered communications — Thomas’s phone numbers are disconnected, emails go unanswered
  • Suspicious location changes — At one point, the ticket website mysteriously listed the event location as Binghamton, New York (a small city with one direct flight per day)

#FyreFestival2 Trends as Frustration Boils Over

Social media erupted with angry posts, memes, and Fyre Festival comparisons. Attendees shared screenshots of unanswered emails, disconnected phone calls, and the surreal experience of being told to “find your own room” after paying thousands for a supposedly all-inclusive experience.

The hashtags #HomeBassFail and #FyreFestival2 began trending as the scope of the disaster became clear.

home and bass cancelled note from resort

What Happens Next?

According to HomeBass’s own FAQ page, refunds would only be issued if the festival was canceled. Since Thomas hasn’t officially canceled the event—just told people to find their own accommodations—it’s unclear if attendees have any recourse.

Several attendees reported filing complaints with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, though it’s not clear if an investigation is underway.

As of publication, Brian Thomas has not responded to media requests for comment. His phone numbers remain disconnected, and his company’s social media accounts have gone silent.

“There’s Only One Person That Needs Shamed, and That’s Brian”

One social media comment summed up the sentiment shared by many:

“I feel so bad for all of these people who booked. Many booked early, and held out hope. Many testimonies from years past that validated it was real. Others have tried to get refunds and communicate to no avail. Some people can’t afford to have thousands held up, they scrape together what they have for their passion and love… There’s only one person that needs shamed, and that’s Brian.”

For the hundreds of music fans who trusted HomeBass to deliver an unforgettable EDC weekend experience, that experience has turned into a cautionary tale about festival scams, broken promises, and the importance of verifying event organizers before handing over thousands of dollars.

UPDATE: WFTV Channel 9 has reached out to Thomas through his listed contact information but has not received a response. The DoubleTree in Binghamton, NY (where the event was briefly listed) also did not return calls for comment. (Venue issues: The Home Bass website promoted an Orlando experience, but the map on the ticket website pointed to a DoubleTree in Binghamton, New York).

Synchronicity in the Forest: THE HULA TIMES 2025

IMG

The one word that really resonated in my mind as I left Hulaween 2025 is SYNCHRONICITY. From the staff to the attendees, everyone seemed to be flowing on one frequency together, and at a festival this large, I feel that is rare. So as I ventured through Suwannee Forest this year I had one question on my mind. How is this all possible? The conversations I had this weekend really showed just why Hulaween has been so longevitous. Here is our Raver’s Choice recap from Hulaween 2025.

The theme this year was The Radiant Veil. When speaking to the creative director of the festival, Justin “JB” Bolognino, he explained that the goal of this years theme was to “learn how to get light and shadow to dance together“. I asked JB, What is your WHY? His response? “To save the children“. People come to this festival from all over the world to heal their inner child. They say after the hula experience not only are they reminded of who they are, but they will carry that same love to their children. That is so important, and this message definitely was felt throughout the weekend. Also shoutout to Justin’s magical side kick, his daughter, who proudly guided us through the forest on our media walkthrough. The best piece of advice I carried with me from the interview with JB was when asked why he thinks Hulaween has been going for 13 years he said, “We either WIN or we LEARN”. (Update: I found out in a later conversation with him that his nickname is The Synchronicity Architect. Truly nothing is a coincidence.) The storyline this year was exciting to watch unfold. Great work from the underground Ants with building the DEF stage, and to their lovely helpers at Duende Productions.

SHOUTOUTS

  1. THE ART
Performance art was alive in the forest with shadow puppetry, stilt walking, fire performers, aerialists, musical instruments, secret doors, and more. The mural maze (@muralmaze) was incredible. Everyday I watched artists paint their hearts into their vision. Finally on the last day, I asked the artist, Akyros (@Akyros_), “What is your WHY?” and he thought for a long moment and said “Survival”. This place reminds you who you are. You have to attend to truly understand, but check out our video at the end of the article for a small insight into the insane artistry.
  2. THE TEA SANCTUARY
If you needed a calm space to unwind this year, you would stumble upon a spirit lake Tea Sanctuary. Inside, you can have insightful conversation while sipping different hot tea options from over 200 year old plants.
  3. END OVERDOSE IMPACTS
I am so proud of this organization. They not only trained a whopping 1,129 people on how to save a life, major artists such as Franc Moody, Sippy, Borne, Stvsh, okayJake, Susto, and Balthvs all came by to get educated and trained as well. They gave away over 2,259 doses of narcan. Thanks for making the world a better and safer place every day <3 PLEASE CONSIDER DONATING TO THIS ORGANIZATION ON THEIR WEBSITE TO KEEP THEIR MISSION ALIVE!
  4. THE INCENDIA STAGE AND THEIR FJ (FIRE JOCKEY)
Not only were there performance artists top tier, but their pyro effects person has the best music/fire timing we have seen. Thank you Ross Heninger.
  5. THE DEF STAGE NO VIP
Something that really stood out to me was their NO VIP line. Anyone could wait and have an onstage experience with their favorite artist. It really helped build community, which in return made the energy coming from the stage all weekend absolutely magnetic. Keep up the great work DEF team!!!
  6. THE HOUSE OF LOST
Don’t forget to attend at Midnight at the House of Lost next year, and bring your ID. The rest is a surprise. Not only is this stage absolutely stunning, but it also hosts weddings. Shout out to all the lovebirds who had a union this past weekend.
  7. THE VENDORS
You all were fabulous. Shout out to the gates workers, medical team, and team of Suwannee, you were always positive and joyous. All the food and drink vendors this year were excellent. For me: Cosmic Charlie’s, Spontaneous Consumption, surfing coconuts, and my bee girls at Juicy Life took the cake!
  8. THE ORACLE
This year, if you received a magic card, you can attend “The Oracle” (pronouns WE/US) over spirit lake at three specific times of the day, to ask them one question. What a cool addition to an already abundant time.
  9. THE CLEAN EARTH INITIATIVE
I loved seeing everyone pick up trash and keep the forest clean. The incentives totally worked, and I loved to see the people who came together because of it. There were bathrooms everywhere, and signs placed throughout to help with guiding the festival.
  10. YOU
THANK YOU! Props to you, Hula Fam, for elevating the energy this year, and always looking out for each other. No phones were out, just vibes. It warms my heart to think about, and I hope this culture only continues to grow. Check out some awesome photos of y’all below from Hulaween’s official instagram.
  • IMG

I would like to shout out the amazing work of Silver Wrapper and Purple Hat productions, as well as Collectiv Presents for bringing the insane production that we experienced. From lighting and sound design to stage execution, we remained elevated all weekend between multiple different stages. Also shout out to Hulaween’s team for noticing any errors and quickly fixing them on the day, rather than waiting til the following year. This does not go unnoticed!

PERSONAL TOP 20 MUSICAL ARTISTS HULA 2025: (loved so many this was hard to pick still)
Maz – For me this set was healing. He understands how to portray human connections through song.
Tape B B2b Disco Lines Surprise Set – no explanation needed, you already know this match was madness.
Gorgon City – Came solo, not in the normal duo, but I have never heard a set like that from them before. I feel like I saw a whole new side of one of my favorite artists. When he began there was 5 people in the crowd (due to schedule conflicts) but by the end of the set it was tree to tree with people.
Gia Nobody b2b Sol. – They brought a heavy energy from the very beginning of their B2b. It really set the tone of the day and I was impressed with their song selections.
Nikita The Wicked – Coming up in the industry quickly, his music composition is eclectic and energetic.
Franc Moody – played tunes of his latest record, brought straight vibes.
The String Cheese Incident– Thank you founding fathers. They are not just a “jam band”. They are a multi- genre musical experience that everyone can enjoy.
ODD MOB – He’s been killing the game and his set showed exactly why. Excited for the next set of his.
DJ PEE WEE – Anderson Paak. DJ set???? Yes please.
CLOZEE B2B LSDREAM (LSZEE) – The perfect way to get weird in the woods
GOOSE – I really enjoyed the positive vibrations and energy coming from their set
Mary Droppinz – played 3 or 4 sets throughout her time there, and brought spice everytime.
LINSKA – A new force in the industry but her song selections were sexy and full of techno.
Zeds Dead – So many amazing songs and love their fanbase. Shoutout to their outfits.
Peekaboo – we always need a Peekaboo set. He never misses and always is dropping heaters.
Sammy Virji – He played banger after banger, and are reminded how many songs he has or is featured.

Fred again.. Drops Emotional Banger: “you’re a star” featuring Amyl and the Sniffers (Music Video)

Fred again.. continues his unstoppable run in 2025 with “you’re a star,” a collaboration that nobody saw coming but everyone needed. Teaming up with Australian punk rockers Amyl and the Sniffers, the British producer crafts another masterclass in emotional dance music that feels both intimate and festival-ready.

The Unexpected Collaboration

On paper, Fred again.. and Amyl and the Sniffers shouldn’t work. One’s known for introspective, sample-heavy electronic productions; the other for raw, unapologetic punk energy. Yet “you’re a star” bridges these worlds seamlessly, showcasing Fred’s genius for finding the emotional core in unexpected places.

The track opens with Fred’s signature vulnerable vocal samples, layered over stuttering beats that gradually build tension. When Amyl’s Amy Taylor enters, her distinctive raspy vocals cut through the production like a lightning bolt, adding a punk rawness that elevates the track beyond typical dance floor fare.

Production Breakdown

Fred again..’s production style remains instantly recognizable – the glitchy percussion, the looped vocal fragments, the way silence becomes as important as sound. What makes “you’re a star” special is how he incorporates Amyl’s punk aesthetic without sanitizing it. The guitars feel unpolished in the best way, the drums hit with live energy, and Amy’s vocal delivery retains all its confrontational power.

The breakdown midway through is pure Fred magic: everything strips away to just a repeated vocal phrase and subtle atmospheric textures before exploding back with doubled intensity. It’s the kind of moment that will absolutely destroy clubs and festival stages in equal measure.

Why This Track Matters

“you’re a star” represents an exciting trend in electronic music – genre barriers dissolving in real-time. Fred again.. has built his career on emotional honesty and sonic experimentation, and this collaboration pushes both further. By bringing punk energy into the dance music space, he’s opening doors for even more unexpected fusions.

The track also showcases Fred’s curatorial ear. He doesn’t just collaborate for clout; he finds artists who share his commitment to genuine emotional expression, even if they arrive at it through completely different sonic paths.

The Bigger Picture

This release comes at a fascinating moment in Fred again..’s career. Following his massive global tours and chart success, he could easily play it safe. Instead, “you’re a star” shows an artist still willing to take risks and challenge expectations – both his own and his audience’s.

For Amyl and the Sniffers fans, this collaboration introduces their fierce energy to audiences who might never step into a punk venue. For Fred’s followers, it’s a reminder that emotional authenticity transcends genre.

Final Thoughts

“you’re a star” is Fred again.. doing what he does best: taking raw human emotion, wrapping it in innovative production, and creating something that feels both deeply personal and universally relatable. With Amyl and the Sniffers adding their signature intensity, the result is one of the most exciting dance tracks of the year.

Whether you’re a punk purist, an electronic music devotee, or somewhere in between, this collaboration demands your attention. It’s further proof that the most exciting music happens when artists refuse to stay in their lanes.

ADVENTURE THROUGH THE FOREST: 5 MAGICAL ASPECTS OF HULAWEEN 2025

Copy of HL aaronbradleyphotochicago SCI

Happy Hula week Mad Hatters and Disco Babes!!!! I can feel the energy already. The entire festival is an absolute must see! Definitely give yourself time to walk around to view the incredible stage design details, the beauty of the river and lake, and the thought provoking art installations. Here are 5 unique aspects of this year’s Hulaween that I have my eyes on, and want you to check out!

  1. The DEF Off Limits stage takeover.

The strength in its foundation is why DEF has grown globally. Last year, this fierce female-led organization graced the Suwannee forest with their presence for the first time, providing a stacked lineup and creative stage design for Hulaween. In two weeks they return bringing a unique 360 degree sound and stage experience. Scoring artists like Odd Mob, Blondish, Maz, surprise guests and more, we wanted to know how they make all of this happen. I spoke to Stars* (@starsinfern0) who does media for DEF shows, about what makes DEF events stand out amongst the crowd.

Stars*: DEF just gets it. Their core intentions and values shine all the way through what you’re experiencing. You could say they set the tone for themselves within their realm. The inclusion through community is there, the catalog on YouTube is there, the energy is there.

Check out this Spotify playlist to prepare you for the amazing time this stage will bring!

  1. End Overdose

This organization is so amazing, not only for saving lives, but also because they’re wonderful people to meet and work with! This year, they will have a table set up at Hulaween, and Olive Younts, the Chapter and Operations Coordinator for End Overdose, will be in attendance, so be sure to go get trained and say hello! Here is what she had to say!

Anything you are specifically excited about with End Overdose attending the festival this year?

Olive: We are super excited for the opportunity to connect with the Hulaween community this year. While this is our first time at Hulaween, we know the community runs deep. We can’t wait to hear your stories and share the festival magic with the Hula community!

Can we get trained at Hulaween? And if so, who will be there?

Olive: Hulaween attendees will be able to get trained in how to respond to an opioid overdose as well as receive two free doses of naloxone. Attendees will be able to pick up fentanyl test strips on site for free as well! Our amazing team of volunteers and staff will be active on-site during festival hours. We can’t wait to connect with our community! The interactions we have with our community serve as a reminder of why we put the work in every single day.

For those just hearing about you, what is End Overdose?

Olive: End Overdose is a 501(c)3 non-profit based in Los Angeles, California, working to end drug-related overdose deaths through education, medical intervention, and public awareness. End Overdose operates 68 chapter programs conducting outreach at community and festival events to ensure the community has access to life-saving resources such as naloxone, education to use naloxone, and equip attendees with preventative measures such as fentanyl test strips.

New EDM Friday Playlist Breakdown: 82 Tracks, Endless Vibes – Your Weekly EDM Bible

new edm friday playlist spotify

With 11,548 saves and counting, this weekly playlist has become the ultimate EDM discovery tool. Here’s what’s worth your time this week.

When a Spotify playlist racks up over 11,000 saves, it’s not just popular—it’s essential. New EDM Friday has earned its spot as the go-to source for ravers, DJs, and festival-goers hunting for the freshest electronic beats. This week’s edition drops 82 tracks spanning 5 hours of pure dance floor energy, headlined by Martin Garrix & Saksham’s “Ain’t Letting You Down” featuring Scott Quinn.

But here’s the real question: with 82 tracks competing for your attention, which ones actually deserve a spot in your rotation?

The Cover Track: Martin Garrix Closes Out His Club Era

Martin Garrix & Saksham ft. Scott Quinn – “Ain’t Letting You Down”

This isn’t just another Martin Garrix release—it’s a statement. The track is the focus single from his new EP ORIGO, which marks a significant moment in Garrix’s career. After releasing “Sentio” and “IDEM,” ORIGO rounds up his club and festival music for the foreseeable future as he explores new directions.

The collaboration with rising producer Saksham adds fresh energy to Garrix’s signature progressive sound. For Saksham, this is a career-defining moment—hearing his collaboration with Garrix open Tomorrowland 2025 was, in his own words, “a surreal, life-changing moment.”

The track delivers everything you’d expect: reassuring vocals from Scott Quinn, anthemic builds, and a drop built for mainstage moments. It’s already getting remix treatment (Israel Carter’s take is worth checking out) and has been heavily featured in Garrix’s recent shows at Red Rocks and Ushuaïa Ibiza.

Verdict: Festival-ready progressive house that proves Garrix still knows how to craft an anthem.

5 Hidden Gems You Need to Hear

Not every banger comes with a big name attached. Here are 5 tracks from this week’s playlist that deserve way more attention:

1. ACRAZE – “Rock My World” ft. Puku

While ACRAZE is known for his viral hit “Do It To It,” his 2025 output shows serious evolution. This tech house banger featuring Miami-based artist Puku adds R&B sensuality to his signature deep basslines and cutting synths. ACRAZE tested it at Madison Square Garden before release—and it went off. The track showcases his ability to blend house, R&B, and electronic music seamlessly. With a Wynn Las Vegas residency and festival slots at Beyond Wonderland lined up, ACRAZE is positioning himself as more than just a one-hit wonder.

2. Excision & Dion Timmer – “Home”

When bass music titans Excision and Dion Timmer collaborate, you expect heavy drops—but “Home” flips the script entirely. This track from Excision’s APEX album features lush, pulsing synths, emotional vocals, and a surprisingly melodic approach. It’s filled with spacious production and a deep, bouncy bassline that makes you question whether to cry or headbang. For ravers who think they’ve got these producers figured out, “Home” is a beautiful curveball that proves bass artists can do emotion just as well as aggression.

3. CID – “Party Jumpin'”

Tech house has been dominating 2025, and CID’s “Party Jumpin'” is a perfect example of why. Released on Night Service Only (NSO), this track has been making waves on Beatport’s Tech House charts. At 129 BPM with crisp percussion and that signature tech house groove, it’s peak-time material that’s been getting early support from major names. CID continues to prove why he’s a staple in the tech house scene.

4. Mau P – “The Less I Know The Better”

Mau P has become one of tech house’s most exciting names, and this Tame Impala flip on Nervous Records shows exactly why. Coming in at 128 BPM in E Major, the track takes the beloved indie-psych anthem and transforms it into a festival-ready groover. It’s been featured on Beatport’s Tech House Top 100 for October 2025, proving that Mau P’s touch turns everything into gold. His production style—blending mainstream accessibility with underground credibility—is exactly what the genre needs.

5. Chris Lake – “Toxic” ft. Ragie Ban

Chris Lake doesn’t miss, and “Toxic” on Black Book Records is another testament to his production mastery. At 129 BPM, this track has been climbing the tech house charts throughout October 2025. Lake’s ability to craft tracks that work equally well in underground clubs and massive festival settings is unmatched. The collaboration with Ragie Ban adds an extra edge that sets this apart from standard tech house fare.

Genre Breakdown: What’s Dominating the Playlist?

After analyzing all 82 tracks, here’s what’s actually filling New EDM Friday’s 5-hour runtime:

Tech House: 40% (~33 tracks)

Tech house isn’t just popular—it’s dominating. The groove-heavy, bass-driven sound that took over Ibiza and festivals in 2024 shows no signs of slowing. Artists like Chris Lake, CID, Mau P, and ACRAZE are pushing the genre forward with darker, more experimental sounds while maintaining essential danceability. The BPM sweet spot hovers around 128-130, with tracks featuring crisp percussion, bold basslines, and infectious vocal loops.

Why it’s everywhere: Tech house bridges mainstream appeal and underground credibility. It’s perfect for extended club sets but punchy enough for festival main stages.

Progressive/Electro House: 30% (~25 tracks)

The classic festival sound remains strong. Big melodies, euphoric builds, and hands-in-the-air drops define this category. Martin Garrix’s inclusion proves that progressive house still has its place in 2025. These tracks are built for sunrise moments and mainstage anthems—they’re the emotional core of any festival experience.

What’s changed: Production quality has reached insane levels. These tracks are mastered for massive festival sound systems while still translating beautifully through headphones.

Bass Music (Dubstep/Drum & Bass): 15% (~12 tracks)

Tracks like Excision & Dion Timmer’s “Home” prove bass music is alive and evolving. While not as dominant as tech house, bass tracks provide essential energy shifts and cater to the headbanger crowd. The genre continues to experiment—Excision even ventured into drum & bass for the first time on his ORIGO EP with “Set Me Free.”

The evolution: Bass music is getting more melodic and emotional without losing its signature heaviness.

Future House/Bass House: 10% (~8 tracks)

Bouncy, energetic, and festival-friendly. These tracks bridge the gap between mainstream appeal and underground edge. The signature “saw” bass and playful melodies keep crowds moving without overwhelming them.

Other (Big Room/Experimental): 5% (~4 tracks)

While Big Room isn’t as dominant as its 2010s heyday, it still has its place for those peak festival drop moments. Experimental tracks provide variety and keep the playlist from becoming too predictable.

What This Playlist Reveals About EDM in 2025

1. Tech House Has Won the Battle

With 40% of the playlist dedicated to tech house, the verdict is in: this is the sound of 2025. The genre’s ability to work in both intimate club settings and massive festivals has made it the most versatile and in-demand style.

2. Collaborations Are Everything

Notice how many tracks feature multiple producers or vocalists? From Martin Garrix & Saksham to Excision & Dion Timmer, the biggest tracks are team efforts. Solo productions are becoming rarer at the top level.

3. Vocals Are Back

After years of instrumental dominance, vocal tracks are making a serious comeback. Nearly 40% of the playlist features prominent vocal performances, proving that ravers want something to sing along to.

4. Production Quality is Insane

Every track on this playlist sounds pristine. The days of lo-fi bedroom productions making it to major playlists are over. These tracks are engineered for maximum impact whether you’re listening on a festival’s main stage system or your AirPods.

5. Streaming-Era Track Lengths

Most tracks clock in between 2:30-3:30 minutes, reflecting streaming platform preferences. Gone are the 7-minute progressive epics—modern EDM is punchy and gets to the point fast.

The RaversChoice Playlist Rating

Overall Score: 8.5/10

What Works:

  • Discovery Potential: Mix of established artists (Garrix, Excision) and rising talent (Saksham, ACRAZE)
  • Real Festival Applicability: These aren’t just Spotify tracks—they’re being played at actual shows

What Could Be Better:

How to Actually Use This Playlist

For Pre-Gaming (Tracks 1-20)

Start with the opening tracks to build energy. Perfect for getting ready, Uber rides, or warming up at a house party before heading to the venue.

For DJ Set Mining (Tracks 20-60)

This is where the gold lives. Screenshot the tracks that fit your style, add them to your library, and test them in your sets. Tracks like “Party Jumpin'” by CID and Mau P’s “The Less I Know The Better” are already getting reactions.

For Discovery (Tracks 60-82)

The back third offers deeper cuts and emerging artists. This is where you’ll find your hidden gems before everyone else does.

For Workouts/Focus Sessions

That 5-hour runtime is perfect for extended gym sessions or work focus time. The continuous energy keeps you motivated without requiring constant playlist management.

The Bottom Line

New EDM Friday isn’t trying to be everything to everyone—and that’s exactly why it works. With its heavy tech house focus and festival-ready production, it knows its audience and serves them well. The 11,548 saves speak for themselves.

Is it perfect? No. Could it use more genre diversity? Absolutely. But if you’re looking for a reliable weekly source of professionally curated, festival-tested EDM that actually reflects what’s being played right now, you’ve found it.

Final Verdict: Add it to your library, mine it for DJ sets, and check back every Friday. Just don’t expect to love all 82 tracks—that’s not the point. The point is having enough quality options that 10-15 tracks will hit perfectly for you each week.

And if nothing else, at least you now know Martin Garrix’s “Ain’t Letting You Down” is going to be everywhere this festival season. You heard it here first.

The electronic music cruise scene is about to lose one of its most beloved experiences. Friendship has unveiled the opening roster of talent for its swan song journey, “The Final Transmission,” setting sail January 18-22, 2026.

A Bittersweet Announcement

For years, the dance music community has cherished Friendship as more than just another festival cruise. It’s been a tight-knit floating sanctuary where electronic music enthusiasts create lasting bonds on the open water. Founded by industry veteran Gary Richards (known to fans as Destructo), the event has carved out its own identity through carefully selected lineups and an emphasis on community over commercialism.

The designation of this upcoming voyage as “The Final Transmission” has struck an emotional chord with the dedicated “Shipfam” who have sailed these waters before. What began as Richards’ answer to Holy Ship! after his departure from HARD Events has evolved into something uniquely special in the festival cruise landscape.

FRIENDSHIP 2025 (Official After Movie) + 2026 Announcement

The Journey Details

Setting sail from Miami aboard the Norwegian Joy, passengers will venture to Great Stirrup Caye in the Bahamas for a four-night experience. The destination offers an exclusive private island setting where the celebration extends beyond the ship’s confines.

Musical Heavyweights On Deck

The initial artist announcement showcases Friendship’s commitment to diverse, quality programming. Leading the charge are electronic music stalwarts including:

Boys Noize and Polo & Pan bring their distinctive European flair, while Bob Moses delivers their signature live electronic experience. House music fans will appreciate Justin Martin’s inclusion, and bass enthusiasts have Stylust to look forward to.

The deeper roster reveals carefully selected talent spanning multiple genres. Doorly, Gaslamp Killer, and Ardalan represent the underground sounds, while Marques Wyatt and Mz Worthy add their own unique flavor. Mary Droppinz, Mikey Lion, Sam Binga, and LYNY round out a lineup that refuses to be pigeonholed into any single style.

Veterans Craze and Mr Koolaid bring decades of experience to the decks. At the center of it all stands Richards himself, who will perform under both his government name and his Destructo moniker—a fitting farewell from the cruise’s architect.

Beyond the Beats

The Friendship experience extends well beyond DJ sets and dance floors. Previous editions have featured artist-hosted activities and distinctive entertainment programming that separates it from typical music cruises. The legendary burlesque performer Dita Von Teese has graced previous sailings with her “Ship Teese” production, and similar special programming is expected for this final journey.

A Poignant Farewell Message (Friendship Cruise Website)

The Friendship team shared their thoughts on this concluding chapter:

“Each voyage has delivered something extraordinary—not merely through the soundtrack, but through the way this community transforms when surrounded by ocean. Year after year, we’ve transformed this vessel into our personal paradise on the waves… a space where time becomes fluid, connections are forged and sometimes broken, and the extraordinary becomes reality each time. The Final Transmission isn’t an ending; it’s a frequency, a rhythm, an opportunity to unite once more before we drift toward the cosmos with our extraterrestrial companions and discover where destiny guides us next.”

Hulaween 2025: Where Halloween Meets Music and Magic

image

The spirit of Hulaween is alive and thriving as we once again approach the best way to spend your Halloween weekend. I have been attending this festival since 2015, and the love Hula gives to their attendees and the consistency in music and artistry reminds me of why I fell in love with festivals in the first place. This years lineup is so stacked that I already know the vibes are going to be hitting from start to finish. The daily stage lineups have just been released! Check them out below!

Started in 2013 by its founding fathers, The String Cheese Incident,  Hulaween brings an immersive 4 day experience that leaves you better at the end than when you arrived. Known for its eclectic lineups surrounding Spirit Lake, and the art installations hidden throughout the forest, they are bringing even more surprises with this year’s experience. Renowned international artist Sangho Bang is also bringing his world class art and energy. How cool is this years poster art???

Lollapalooza Gates Are Opening in 6 Days: We’re Ready to Rage with You, Chicago (Playlist Included)

lollapalooza

Being one of the country’s most popular music festivals, it is a staple for acknowledging all the musical genres we hold so dearly. Started as a farewell tour for Jane’s Addiction in 1991 by front man Perry Farrell, Lollapalooza comes from the slang term meaning “extraordinarily impressive”. That’s exactly what this year’s festival will do, bringing you a stacked lineup of heavy hitters on 7+ stages. I have to say, it’s going to be hard to peel me away from the Perry’s stage on Saturday, but the goal is I make it to every stage at least once to see as many of these musical legends as possible.

The after parties list is so large it will keep the dancing going all night. Over 30 different iconic Chicago venues are hosting incredible post-shows every night in connection with the festival. The Lolla take over is about to be real and I know that our new Chicago friends will show us an amazing time both during the fest and into the afters.

This year we are focusing not just on vibes and execution, but also festival styles, musical creativity in sets, and stand-out art installs! I am excited to see what the energy of the festival as a whole feels like. There are so many food and drink options that it will be like a mini bar crawl while we hop stages!

For those not attending Lollapalooza this year, you can catch the live streams on Hulu, and of course keep an eye out for our post article on the experience. We are counting down the days until we get to dance in the Chicago air!
