It’s always great feeling when you discover a feel-good story on the internet amidst all the usual drama that’s posted every day by media outlets. It’s unfortunate that there are more negative stories out there than positive within the music industry. Though it is quite refreshing when a story such as this occurs which warms your heart and slightly restores your hope in humanity. Just a few days ago, a GoFundMe page was created by the father of Allie Drivas, a two-month old baby girl who had been diagnosed with a deadly liver disease. In just a couple of days, the family had received over $5,000 in donations from friends and family and a large outreach of support via social media.
At two months old, Allie was diagnosed with the liver disease Biliary Atresia. If left untreated, children with this disease do not typically make it past 2-3 years old. The first step in her journey to recovery was the Kasai surgical procedure, in which part of her small intestine was connected to her liver to allow proper bile drainage . Unfortunately after a few months of close monitoring post surgery, the Kasai was deemed unsuccessful. Allie’s liver is still not functioning properly and her condition will worsen with time. Her only chance at survival is liver transplantation. Kaiser has transferred Allie to Children’s Hospital LA. They have evaluated her and she is currently being placed on the liver transplant list. Please help us fund the money to cover her medical expenses. We want to thank you for all of the support, love and prayers you have been sending our way!
On the afternoon of Thursday, June 25th, the Drivas family was received some overwhelming news via Instagram. Allie’s father had left a comment on one of former Swedish House Mafia member, Steve Angello‘s Instagram photo, asking him to check out Allie’s GoFundMe page. Within just a few minutes he responded that he would do so, and he donated $5,000 to Allie’s GoFundMe page. Since Steve Angello’s generous donation, the total amount is very close to their goal of $15,000. If you would like to donate to Allie’s Angels for Liver Transplant, please click here to do so.
