Imagine Music Festival Releases Official 2016 Aftermovie

Imagine Music Festival reveals the official aftermovie for the 2016 edition of the revamped festival in Atlanta, Ga. Last year capped off the first year of the 3-day plus camping expansion and change of venue with the popular Atlanta dance music festival. IMF saw around 25,000 attendees walk through the turnstyles of Atlanta Motor Speedway on the weekend of August 26th-28th, 2016. In this aftermovie, IMF gives you a chance to catch a glimpse of the #ReImagined look of this growing music festival and the debut of its massive new venue.

Recently Imagine Music Festival announced its return to Atlanta Motor Speedway for a fourth edition of the aquatic fairytale on September 22-24, 2017. With the new additions to Imagine Music Festival last year came a few challenging obstacles in which the festival took in stride to adapt and develop further as a brand. As one of the country’s last remaining independent festivals, Imagine creates an all-encompassing, 360-degree sensory experience that blends music, circus troupes, performers, dancers, art, workshops, classes and more

“We are extremely grateful for the love and support we saw last year. The magnitude of growth we experienced in our first year at Atlanta Motor Speedway was humbling. There is endless potential and we look forward to growing as a festival,” says Iris Presents founders Glenn and Madeleine Goodhand.

NGHTMRE at Opera Night Club in Atlanta

NGHTMRE returned to Atlanta for a sold out night at Opera Nightclub. The bass music prodigy put on a great show for a packed house full of those who love some heavy bass. This was his second show at this venue, and more than likely will not be the last after this huge night.

Tyler Marenyi, aka NGHTMRE, has become a major name within the EDM scene in just a few short years. Back in 2015 at Ultra Music Festival in Miami, Skrillex dropped what was then an ID from NGHTMRE that would quickly become a trap anthem for the 2015 and beyond festival seasons which is now titled, “Street.”

NGHTMRE’s live sets are always energetic and they transition well between the aggressive to the melodic bass styles. His wide range of bass music track selection is certainly reason enough for selling out venues like Opera and more. NGHTMRE’s

Tchami & Angelz: Prophecy Tour at Ritz Ybor – Tampa

Last Friday night, Tampa was blessed with the Prophecy of groovy house tunes from the one and only Tchami accompanied by Angelz. Tchami has come hot off his freshly rebooted cathedral-themed stage with his Pardon My French Tour partners, Mercer, DJ Snake, and Malaa, which swept across the United States during 2016. For his latest tour, the french dj/producer has teamed up with Mercer once again to bring the Prophecy to house music fans all across the U.S.

This stop in Tampa at The Ritz Ybor was the second date of the huge 32 city North American tour. Tchami’s Prophecy Tour was named in honor of his latest hit with Malaa, “Prophecy,” which shook dance floors all across the globe.

Unfortunately, Mercer could not perform with Tchami on Friday at Ritz; but instead he was joined by Canadian producer Angelz. This last minute adjustment of the tour lineup came as a surprise, but in a pleasant way for those in attendance. Angelz was a fantastic replacement, and he absolutely lit up the dance floor to get the crowd prepared for Tchami. His unique style of house music drenched with thick basslines was a great way to kick off the night for this rather dark themed tour. It set the tone for what we were all in store for with the future house king awaiting.

Tchami’s cathedral stage with his church-esque faux stained glass fixtures along with his looming figure on a raised pulpit style DJ booth was an incredible production. It seemed to go hand in hand with his dark yet vibey future house sounds. The ominous red lights combined with religious themed visuals made for one delightful night of house music. From the opening set to Angelz and Tchami along with the outstanding stage production production gave the house heads of Tampa a night to remember.

Eye Witness Account From BPM Festival Shooting in Mexico

Tragedy has struck the dance music community in the early hours of Monday morning on January 16th, 2017. Our friends with djbios.com, broke the unfortunate news earlier today with an account from a witness who was on the scene when utterly horrifying moment occurred. Below is a statement that was released by the organizers of BPM which is a contradicting report of what the witness had to say about the incident. Along with that is the breaking news story from djbios on what exactly took place:

Multiple shootings have reportedly taken place at BPM Festival in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. The evening of January 15th marked the final day of the house and techno-centric gathering, and the incidents – which have injured at least 12 and claimed the lives of at least five as of this writing – took place early morning today, January 16th, as the festivities wrapped up.

EDM.com’s Devin Culham had been feet away from one of the shooters. After finding her way to safety, she spoke to djbios to deliver a firsthand account of what she witnessed. She told us:

Basically, we were at Blue Parrot, my friend and I. We were going to the bathroom near the back, where there was an exit. It was a pretty packed club; it was the Elrow party, the last party of the festival. We were walking to the bathroom and heard a shot fire so we all ducked to the ground.

I looked up and there was a Mexican man with a white shirt, blue jeans and a black baseball cap with what looked to me like a revolver in his hand. I saw him shoot four or five shots in the air, and we’d all ducked to the ground. The music was still going and nobody knew what was going on, and we got up and found our friends and tried to run to the beach. Everybody dove down so we all ducked down again for a second. We ran out the artist door and kind of went through a back exit of the club. As we were leaving, there were police everywhere and there was another crime scene that another person had done so it looks like there were multiple shootings.

There were rumors that there were shootings at The Jungle, which is another venue. We heard rumors that there were shootings at the Thompson Hotel. My guess is that this is likely cartel related, that it’s some sort of drug territory thing because there’s so much open drug dealing – but I’m not sure.

Joining RUSKO will be Fyer and a hefty dose of Atlanta’s home favorites like Leah Culver, Eddie Gold, Stranger Candy, Ployd, and more!

Christopher Mercer, aka RUSKO, is a British bass producer who has been a pioneer ever since he emerged on the scene several years ago. For all of you dubstep lovers out there, RUSKO one of the guys who helped build the foundation to the dubstep movement you enjoy today. Looking back at his track that is now 10 years old, “Cockney Thug,” it was one of the building blocks for that “wobble” style used today. After a long hiatus from performing and producing with long-time friend Caspa, the two got back together once again in 2015 to reignite the flame to the dubstep world. The two have been back in the studio together and they’ve released two massive EP’s this year titled, “EP 1,” and ,”EP 2.” Now that RUSKO is on a mission to bring dubstep back, expect a ton of his “happy and heavy” style of music this Saturday on New Year’s Eve.

As a special gift from Iris Presents, they would like to offer a chance for a very special experience with a 2 free VIP ticket plus a meet and greet prize with RUSKO himself. Details are in their post from Facebook below. Be sure to go to Iris Presents for your chance to enter the contest.

2017 Lineup | Electric Forest Festival

We come to Electric Forest for each other.

The Forest is a place of love, not fear, of community, not segregation. With the arts as our language, we gather to hear the voice of community.

It is easy to see that monumental change has arrived. In these early days, the definition of change is unclear. It is unstable. It can still be shaped.

Now is the time to search for a new wisdom that community can provide. We seek a new center through understanding each other, and inspiring one another through actions of unity and hope.

Our call to action is simple. Listen.

More than ever before… Listen to new ideas, listen to difference, listen to the creative, listen to those in the margins, and listen to expression from music.

Listen HARD in every direction. Push with all of your might to uncover common ground. It is precisely there where we will find a revolution of spirit.

Listen far and wide. Listen with fierce love. If you come to the Forest, then bring what YOU can offer. Bring what you have learned. We want to know you.

Each day, we are one step closer to coming home again, and planting the seeds to make everywhere feel as open and as free as The Forest.

With immense gratitude, this is your invitation from all that is Electric Forest, and from the first artists who have committed to hear each other in Rothbury next summer.

Together, we aim for a truly epic experience. A celebration of purpose to match these historic times.

Presenting the initial lineup for Electric Forest 2017.
