It is quite a challenge to stand out in today’s festival landscape, but with the inaugural event this past spring, the Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival did just that and more. From legendary performances at the first ever PoWoW! (Read about 2016’s PoWow! Feat. Arcade Fire‘s Win Butler, Miguel, Hall & Oates‘ John Oates, Mumford & Sons, Skrillex, Mac Miller, Preservation Hall Jazz Band and more at Rolling Stone), to signature venues like the lakeside sandy beach of Aquachobee, and the otherworldly confines of Jungle 51 hidden within a forest of luminescent trees, Okeechobeewowed a sold-out gathering of open-minded music fans with a weekend worthy of its position as the first major event of the music festival season.

“While an incredible lineup featuring everyone from Mumford and Sons and Kendrick Lamar to Robert Plant and Skrillex kept us Okeechobeings on a dynamic and literally nonstop musical journey over the course of the festival’s four nights, it was the overall experience — the camping, the art, the beach, the costumes, the nature and weather, the yoga and spirituality, and of course the smiling, chilled-out people from all walks of life — that made the festival the magical bubble in space-time it was.” – Miami New Times on Okeechobee 2016

Okeechobee’s festival site has been carefully prepared to capture the natural beauty of the sunshine state, and give the festival an intimate feeling. Building upon the epic experience that greeted patrons in its inaugural year, Soundslinger has further invested in new art, amenities and infrastructure for Okeechobee’s second annual edition. An assortment of spectacular multi-media immersive art installations dot the landscape, including unique pieces commissioned specifically for the festival with an emphasis on upcycled materials. Patrons will stumble upon large scale structures and small intimate interactive pieces as they experience the artistic heart and soul of the festival in ChobeeWobee Village, or spend time exploring the majestic Sunshine Grove through every hidden hammock, grove of palms, and secret pathway throughout the festival site. When hunger strikes after an afternoon of dancing, a wide array of locally sourced treats from some of Florida’s most popular food trucks and artisanal purveyors will be on hand to satiate the most voracious appetites and discerning palates. Meanwhile, Yogachobee offers a place for healing, exploration, and reflection on the epic musical moments and experiences, with yoga, meditation, permaculture workshops, speakers and more.

“We are excited to build upon the success of OMF 16. This year’s lineup is great and we have more surprises to come. We are opening up more of our amazing property for people to explore, and continuing to invest in art and the overall festival experience. Can’t wait to open the doors on March 2nd!”

– Kevin Collinsworth (Soundslinger CEO)

In addition to continuously improving the festival operations, logistics & overall fan experience, an ongoing endeavor of the Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival is to do everything possible to respect and cherish the natural beauty of the festival site, the surrounding area, and the earth as a whole. Each year the festival will make progress towards the eventual goal of being a carbon neutral event while utilizing as many biodegradable, repurposed, recycled & sustainable materials as possible.

4-Day GA Passes include parking, tent camping, and access to all four days of the festival.  Fans can make the most out of their weekend with the Eternal Sunshine VIP Experience, a variety of Tent and RV Rental options, the Eternal Sunshine VIP Boutique Camping Experience, or a Super VIP Luxury Tour Bus package called The Grand Kachobee. These ticket and lodging packages are customized to give each fan an experience that they will never forget.  Detailed information is available on the website.

EDC Orlando 2016 Artist Spotlight: JAUZ

In exactly one week, we will all gather under the electric sky of Orlando, Florida to experience another memorable year of Electric Daisy Carnival. The countdown to our musical paradise is coming to an end at a rapid pace. As we go deeper into our in-depth look at this lineup for EDCO, it would truly be a disservice to anyone attending if we didn’t show some love to one of our absolute favorite producers in the EDM game- JAUZ.

Sam Vogel, aka JAUZ, can be considered as one of the hottest names in EDM, and rightfully so. The young LA-based producer is a genre bending juggernaut and is continuing to rise to the top with every track he releases. His fusion of different genres from house, dubstep, hip-hop, and even a little trap is nothing like anyone has ever heard before. Sam has essentially created his own signature sound that is loved by many and can’t be replicated. Some would even say that he is one of the pioneers of the bass house movement. Most dance music fans can agree, though, that one of his first huge hits, “Feel the Volume” is what possibly helped skyrocket Sam’s career.

jauzedcoarticle

Since then, his music has been supported by countless big name DJ’s in the dance music industry. JAUZ has worked nonstop in the studio with producing so many top tier tunes that really can’t be defined into one category of music. Sam has an impressive list of collabs with the likes of Skrillex, the legendary Tiesto, Dillon Francis, San Holo, and Netsky- that’s not even listing all of them. His latest collab with San Holo, “OK!” released on Monstercat has been spreading like wildfire all over the internet over the last couple of weeks. “OK!” is a little different than what you would expect from the two. I’ts an addictive hybrid dubstep and bass house track that is one for the books out of the Monstercat releases this year.

It truly is an incredible thing to see a young producer go from literally being a fan attending music festivals to being one of the top names on a festival lineup in such a short amount of time. JAUZ live sets are just as catchy and bouncy as the music he produces. With having the pleasure of experiencing JAUZ live on several occasions, I can assure that you will not be disappointed if you catch him at EDC on Saturday, November 5th. JAUZ does a fantastic job with blending several different genres together along with playing his latest tunes to create one of the most fun sets you will witness live at a festival. Both his sets and productions are perfect examples of his own creed, “music has no boundaries.” Shark Squad will be in full force next week in Orlando; and to help get you ready, check out one of our favorite sets of JAUZ from Ultra Miami 2016 below.

Known as one of dance music’s most creative artists, Armand van Helden now counts down to the release of his new full length album ‘Extra Dimensional’ on November 25th. The mighty DJ and producer will be doing this by dropping a new track on Spotify from his upcoming album, every week until album release.

Following up his last single ‘Wings’, which also features on his new album ‘Extra Dimensional’, Armand now presents another musical glimpse with album track ‘Know Thyself’. With a ground shaking beat that is coming in strong and the uplifting vocals bringing a massive dose of energy, intertwined with the vigorous piano chords. Get ready to wave your hands!

EDC Orlando 2016 Artist Spotlight: NGHTMRE

The countdown to EDC Orlando continues as we are now just under two weeks remaining before the festival. It is so close that you can almost feel that warm central Florida breeze. As we take another look at this scrumptious lineup that Insomniac will be delivering, the bass music prodigy known as NGHTMRE is without a doubt next on our musical radar.

Tyler Marenyi, aka NGHTMRE, has become a major name within the EDM scene in just a little over a year. Back in 2015 at Ultra Music Festival in Miami, Skrillex dropped what was then an ID from NGHTMRE that would quickly become a trap anthem for the 2015 and beyond festival seasons which is now titled, “Street.”

Throughout 2015 and into 2016, Tyler ended up playing at several major music festivals all across the U.S. including EDC Las Vegas ’15 & ’16, Lollapalooza, TomorrowWorld, Moonrise, and Life In Color Miami to name a few. He has even headlined some big name venues like Webster Hall in New York, The Mid of Chicago, and Beta in Denver. Not only has he performed at many venues and music festivals all over, he has been a producing machine during his tenure as a touring DJ. NGHTMRE has released two EP’s since 2015- one which was a collab with Slander called “Nuclear Bonds” and a self-titled EP “NGHTMRE” in early 2016. Along with his albums, he has also released many great remixes of tracks from huge names in the industry like Flux Pavilion, Keys N’ Krates, The Prodigy, and The Griswolds.
nghtmreedcorlando16
NGHTMRE live sets are arguably just as noteworthy as his producing talent. His sets are a heavy mix of all things bass music with a little bit of a hip-hop influence as well. One of his biggest sets do date would probably be his performance at EDC Las Vegas 2016 where he absolutely destroyed the bassPOD stage. You can hear NGHTMRE’s massive set from EDC Vegas below, and prepare for what he’ll bring to the madness if you catch him live at EDC Orlando on November 4th. If he is not on your must-see list for EDC Orlando 2016, do yourself a favor and add NGHTMRE to it because he will definitely be bringing the heat for you bass lovers.

EDC Orlando 2016 Artist Spotlight: Ephwurd

We are less than a month away from gathering at Tinker Field in Orlando, Florida for another edition of Electric Daisy Carnival. This festival just keeps getting bigger and better with each year, and the lineups are nothing short of incredible. This year’s EDC Orlando lineup will feature a nice mixture of genres for all dance music fans. To kick things off with our list of artist spotlights for EDCO, here we have the bass house duo that is Ephwurd.

Ephwurd is a bass house project consisting of the canadian Dubstep mastermind, Datsik, and his tour manager who goes by the name of Bais Haus. Ephwurd really busted into the dance music scene when they teamed up with JAUZ and gave us the song we all know and love, “Rock The Party,” which arguably could be one of the biggest EDM hits of 2015.

ephwurdescape2015

Ephwurd debuted their first live performance with Insomniac’s Escape: Psycho Circus in 2015. Shortly after their set at Escape, the guys began performing all over the west coast. Insomniac seems to really like these guys because they came back to play in Vegas for EDC Las Vegas 2016. Their sets have this hefty dose of bass house along with some other surprises that are usually thrown in. Ephwurd has a lot of new music that they have been sitting on, according to the duo; so be prepared to possibly hear some new tunes being played on Friday, November 4th. Below is Ephwurd’s most recent set which was at EDC Las Vegas 2016. This should give you a little taste as to what is in store for EDC Orlando in just a few weeks.

Shelter Live Tour: Porter Robinson & Madeon (Atlanta, Ga)

The city of Atlanta is about to get the ultimate treatment on Thursday, September 29, 2016. Tomorrow night, there will be not one, but TWO performances from Porter Robinson and Madeon. These two incredible dj/producers have teamed up for a special Shelter Live Tour which is actually kicking off here in Atlanta tomorrow night. The two venues which will be holding these special events are The Tabernacle and Gold Room. This massive tour will cover several cities all across the nation through to the middle of December of 2016.

This tour will be like nothing any fan of either Porter or Madeon has ever seen before. The two will combine both of their unique styles of music for an epic back-to-back performance that is going to blow you away. Since the announcement of the tour and ticket sales a few months ago, the tickets have been selling like wild fire and most of the cities have already been sold out, including here in Atlanta according to the tour’s website. But if you head over to Live Nation’s website they still have a few straggler tickets available for around $40. The event at the Tabernacle will start at 8 pm Thursday evening.

If you don’t want to experience this at the Tabernacle, or you miss your chance on some tickets, or even if you’re feeling up to it by going to both, you can head just a few minutes up the road to the northside to see them at Gold Room for the afterparty event. The guys behind Amplify Group for Gold Room events will be hosting the official afterparty for the Shelter Tour. You can still get tickets to this event as well by going to their Eventbrite page.

Tickets will most likely be gone by the end of the day, so we highly suggest that you do not wait any longer. Whichever event you choose to attend Thursday night, you can rest assured that you will be in for a musical treat at both the Tabernacle and Gold Room.

Watch Carl Cox’s Last Performance at Space Ibiza Closing Party (LIVE VIDEO)

The legendary Carl Cox is now playing for the last time at the famed Space Ibiza venue. The announcement of the club closing down and “changing” came last year when Cox was speaking at the Asia-Pacific Electronic Music Conference in Sydney in December. He explained that the club will be under control of Ushuaia. “It gets handed over to Ushuaïa Group across the road and its manager Jan will be given the keys to run Space. And once that happens, everything changes. So I have no desire to stay in that club for any reason,” says Cox. The club’s owner, Pepe Rosello at 80 year’s of age, will no longer have a contract with the venue. Pepe has been a long time friend with Cox, and the DJ does not feel the need to perform there once more after Pepe is out.

Essentially, what Carl Cox was telling the conference is that the club will still be there. He seems to not be a fan of the new group [Ushuaia] who will be taking over the club. The Ushuaia group houses residencies with the likes of David Guetta, Hardwell, Armin van Buuren, and Axwell & Ingrosso. Those names should give you a little bit of an idea as to why the veteran techno DJ does not agree with what the new group has to offer for Space. As for now, enjoy this live stream of the last time that Mr. Carl Cox will take the decks at this amazing night club on the island of Ibiza.

Bassnectar Turns Atlanta into Basslanta at Georgia World Congress Center

Bassnectar, you have once again touched Atlanta with a ground breaking and breath taking experience. Last weekend’s back to back Friday and Saturday showdown at the Georgia World Congress Center was absolutely wicked! This highly anticipated show brought out all the bassheads throughout Atlanta to create what is now known as Basslanta.

It was a show that had been very much talked about within the Atlanta dance music scene ever since the initial announcement. Bassnectar had been teasing us for quite some time about how he wanted to come back and play a show in ATL. During the spring of this year, he had announced that he was going to do an event at a “secret venue” which had literally everyone trying to figure out where it was going to be held. Besides TomorrowWorld 2015, he had only performed a few solo shows at the historic Tabernacle venue in downtown.

rsz_img_9829

The laser and light production was some of the most superb we have seen as of late. Of course, the bass is what everyone loves most about his live shows, which was nothing short of wall-shattering. Bassnectar is well known for his extravagant lighting and sound production along with mind blowing visuals. This remarkable two-day extravaganza was filled with a gigantic group of diehard fans who waited a long time for this special weekend. When you can just feel an overwhelming amount of love in one arena coming together to support one of their favorite artists, it makes the experience so much more memorable and incredible to witness.

Lorin Ashton, or better known Bassnectar, travels and performs a variety of shows and festivals all over the world, each with a touch of something special. He truly makes the experience unforgettable and creates a bond between himself and his fans like no other artist in this dance music culture. From his floor pounding bass-filled music to his eye candy visual production, you won’t experience a show like his anywhere else. There is a reason why many of his loyal fans will travel all over the nation just to see his shows, and more than just one occasion.

Thank you for another magical and spectacular sold out show. Hopefully we’ll you again very soon!
