Car Camping Will Return To Counterpoint Music Festival 2015

That’s right, you read the title correctly! Counterpoint Music Festival has just announced that they are not going to be getting rid of car camping this year. Since the original announcement of the festival taking away the car camping feature this year, people were not all pleased about it. Many complaints came pouring in via social media to bring it back. Here is the statement from Counterpoint on their website about the resurrection of car camping:

“You spoke, we listened. Car Camping is back at CounterPoint this year! Now you have the option of using your ride as home base for the weekend.

GA Car Camping:

GA Car Camping Passes will be available for the discounted price of $75 from January 26th through February 2nd. There are a limited number of discounted Car Camping Passes, so grab yours before they sell out and return to their regular price of $100.

They are also available bundled with Rapid Access, a separate vehicle entry point that skips most of the line into Kingston Downs for $110 on January 26th, which will increase to $135 starting February 2nd.”

If you have already purchased your tickets for Counterpoint, do not fret. They are also allowing you to add the car camping passes to your order.

“To update your order to include Car Camping, please:

Place an order for your new Car Camping Pass by visiting Counterpointfestival.com
Make note of your order numbers for your old Parking Pass & your new Car Camping Pass as well as the last 4 digits of the credit card(s) used for these purchases.
Contact Front Gate Tickets with your order numbers & last 4 digits of your credit card(s) by email info@frontgatetickets.com or calling 888.512.SHOW (7469). Phone Call Center hours are 9AM-9PM CST Mon-Sat; closed Sunday.
Front Gate Tickets will refund you for the Parking Pass you originally purchased. You’re done!”

They also stated that if you have VIP or Platinum passes, you will automatically be granted car camping passes as well. So there is no need for you to update your order if you have one of the two upgraded tickets. They are going to make a lot of people happy with this new change that they have made. Although people should not let this be the deciding factor as to whether or not they attend the festial this year, it was still a great move in the right direction to winning back some of the people who were upset about it.

Iris NYE Experience Featuring 12th Planet – [VIDEO]

New Year’s Eve was a night full of events in Atlanta, but there was one that seemed to stand out from the rest, and that was the Iris NYE Experience. Iris Presents has been a long-standing promoter in the city of Atlanta, and they are known for their parties. New Year’s Eve for Iris has been a highly anticipated event over the last few years. This year, to ring in 2015, Iris Presents brought in a plethora of entertainment for their city. Headlining this epic New Year’s celebration was Los Angeles native, 12th planet. Joining him was an all-star Atlanta lineup that included Mantis, MK Ultra, and Eddie Gold. Combining the best of Atlanta’s DJs with one of the top dubstep producers, 12th Planet, for a New Year’s Eve celebration made this night one to remember.

10301298_761191997289909_8944109583111634596_n

As midnight struck, 2014 was no longer, and 12th Planet rang in the New Year for an energized Iris crowd. The atmosphere was incredible throughout the main room. 12th Planet’s bass-filled set made for a perfect way to kiss 2014 goodbye. The whole set from start to finish was full of his unique twist on dubstep. For those of you not familiar with 12th Plantet’s sound, check out his latest mix below. It was very similar to the epic set that he played on New Year’s Eve. You’ll get a feel for just how hard this guy went that night.

Following that stellar performance was a triple header of Atlanta’s top local talent, Mantis, MK Ultra and Eddie Gold. I don’t think there was a person in the venue that was prepared for what those three acts were about to bring through the speakers. I had no doubt that these guys were going to absolutely bring everything they had to start off 2015 right, and they definitely exceeded my expectations. All three came up one after another and they all absolutely killed it, the room seemed like it stayed completely packed throughout the remainder of the night.

There was something else that happened during this night that I feel shouldn’t go unnoticed. South Carolina’s Abe Abdelnour, better known as his stage name, Ra, had a very special set that night as well. Just after Christmas, Ra’s dear friend and hype man, Taylor Miller, tragically passed away in a vehicle accident. Miller was beloved not only to Abe, but to many others within the EDM community of Atlanta and Greenville. That side room was so packed with everyone there to celebrate in memory of Taylor. I caught up with Ra to get his thoughts on his special tribute set. “Taylor supported what I do more than anyone else, and it was hard for me to perform after his death,” Ra stated. “It [Iris NYE] was my first time back on the tables. I had promised him, his family, and everyone else that going forward, I will be more driven to reach my goal and to honor him for all the support he gave me,” added Ra. When I asked him how he felt about the whole thing, he said, “I was so touched by the overwhelming support from everyone in that room that night. I don’t even live in Atlanta, yet so many people gathered to honor him. His family and I will be forever grateful for that moment.”

What a way to ring in the New Year? This night brought so many people together. We not only had a celebration to kick off 2015 with a killer lineup; but we also had an emotional moment as well in remembrance of a fallen loved one in our EDM community. Iris really lived up to its name that night with making everyone feel like family, all united as one with incredible music, production, and vibes. Check out the recap video below and see what you missed if you didn’t go, or relive that awesome night if you did attend.

Naked Girl Jumps on Stage At Keys N Krates Show In Tampa (VIDEO)

On Saturday night at District 3 in Tampa, Florida, an overly enthusiastic girl was caught on video jumping up on stage, completely naked, during a Keys N Krates performance. I have been to hundreds of shows at many different venues, and I can honestly say that I have never witnessed a hot girl getting naked and running on a stage during a set. Let’s face it, streaking happens all the time, mainly during sporting events where the streaker gets a short lived shot at fame before they are body slammed by a security guard. Almost every time there is a video of a streaker, it’s typically a male that is the culprit and never a female, especially an attractive one at that.

In the picture below, you can see a smirk on DJ Jr. Flo’s face as the streaker attempts to jump on his back as security rips her away. In all honesty, who wouldn’t crack a smile in this situation where an attractive naked girl tries to jump on you mid-set?
nakedgirlkeysnkrates

Below is the video of the streaker jumping on stage and being chased by security. It seems as though all she wanted was a piggy back ride from Keys N Krates’s DJ, Jr. Flo; or perhaps she just really wanted to be naked in front of hundreds of people. Either way, this made for a great discussion piece, unless you have something better to do on a Sunday afternoon. The best part of this video is how she attempts to elude security by crawling under the decks. It’s safe to say that girl’s life will never be the same after last night’s debacle.

Counterpoint Music Festival Makes Changes For 2015

Counterpoint Music Festival located in Kingston Downs, Georgia, will be back in 2015; but it is not going to be the same festival that everyone is used to. Local blog, Northwest Georgia News, broke he news about the sudden changes just a few days ago. With the initial lineup coming and tickets being released soon, there is more talk on the changes the festival is making rather than the announcements for 2015. Social media has been buzzing over the last few days about these new tweaks; some being positive and a few on the negative side.

Kevin Earle, marketing director for the event, said the music will stop late Sunday night. That was the night that the most 911 calls were made with complaints about the festival’s noise.
“We want to become a part of this community for years to come and making sure that we cause as little inconvenience to the neighbors is a top priority of ours,” Earle said in an email. “With this said, adjustments to the direction of the stages and sound levels will be made, but most notable will be the lack of late-night music on Sunday night.”

That being said, TomorrowWorld in Chattahoochee Hills, Georgia, also received many noise complaints. According to the organizers, only the famed Qdance stage was at the cause of all the noise comlaints, so they decided to eliminate the stage from the festival except for one day, Friday. Counterpoint organizers plan to do the same as TomorrowWorld, and help to alleviate any issue with the surrounding community.

The music’s volume will not be the only change that organizers will be making for 2015. These other changes include the elimination of car camping, and changing the entrance and exit routes. Tent camping will only be in the infield of the festival. By the festival taking cars away from the campsites, it makes for a more intimate festival experience for the attendees.
Marketing Director, Kevin Earle said, “This combined with a new entrance/exit road to the campgrounds will provide a much smoother and faster process coming and going as well as a more fan-centric experience once in the campgrounds and throughout the festival.”
So attendees for 2015 can expect lower parking prices and more of an intimate feel with the elimination of car camping.

“This combined with a new entrance/exit road to the campgrounds will provide a much smoother and faster process coming and going as well as a more fan-centric experience once in the campgrounds and throughout the festival,” he added. Improvements on entrance and exit was much needed. If you were at the festival last year, for people who tried to leave a day early, it took up to three hours for people to get out of the festival grounds. New and improved entry and exit points will help tremendously for 2015.

The festival wants to create a good standing relationship with the surrounding community. They will do whatever it takes to ensure that they will be back for years to come. If that meas taking away a few of the luxuries that the attendees had in the years prior, then so be it. I honestly think that taking the car camping away is not that big of a deal. The only good thing about having your car at your campsite was being able to lock valuables in your car. Eliminating the car from the equation can also help improve in space for more campers. Think about some people having large that would take up more space than needed for camping. At least one tent and camping space could easily fit where these cars were parked. Getting rid of car camping was a great move by the festival, regardless of it being a convenience factor for the people attending. At the end of the day, the festival will only try to make the experience better and better each year; even if it means making some changes that people won’t agree with.

Waka Flocka, Mayhem & HXV Tear Up Atlanta At Opera Nightclub

Just a few days before New Year’s, the guys behind the weekly Illuminate Fridays event, Liquified, brought in a triad of trap talent to Atlanta and a few other surprise guests as well. Waka Flocka headlined the show along with hometown trap favorites, Mayhem and Heroes x Villains. This was the last show of the year for Liquified, and I feel like they couldn’t have picked a better group of acts to cap off a great year of throwing events.

Both Mayhem and HXV have became a heavy favorite here in their hometown city of Atlanta. Though I thought it would be interesting to see how the audience would react to having Waka Flocka as one of the headliners. Waka Flocka’s involvement in EDM goes back to 2013 when he teamed up with Steve Aoki and Dim Mak Records. Waka has done collabs with some other big names in EDM including Flosstradamus, Borgore, Yellow Claw and even Skrillex. He’s made appearances at major music festivals such as Ultra in Miami, Moonrise Music Festival in Baltimore, and even TomorrowWorld, to name a few.

HXV opened the night with a bang. It is always a pleasure getting to see HXV perform because his sets are just full of energy and can make crowds hyped. He played a great mixture of hip hop infused trap music that can win over any Atlanta audience. I loved getting to hear his latest track, “Made It,” which has that mid tempo, grimy trap beat that I enjoy.

Next to perform was the much anticipated, Waka Flocka. HXV did a great job with setting the tone for what Waka was going to bring to the table for Opera’s crowd that night. He came on stage with is high energy, head banging, club rap that he’s well known for. The crowd seemed to be loving every minute of it. Waka Flocka went through some of his classic tracks, and also throwing in a plethora of new EDM tracks that he has done collabs with over the past year. One of my favorite tracks that he played was the Flosstradamus remix of Steve Aoki and Waka’s track, “Rage The Night Away.” Waka actually did a great job and definitely kept the crowd enthused with some good trap and hip-hop music. The night was far from over, because the hometown hero, Mayhem was on deck in this trap music triple header.

Mayhem has become a beloved name in the Atlanta EDM scene. He has also gained a residency with Liquified and Opera Nightclub, earning a quarterly performance spot at the venue. He was the last performance of the night, but certainly not the least. Mayhem kept the energy flowing and the dance floor pumped to close out the night with a huge set. Along with HXV, I’ve seen Mayhem on several occasions, and each time this guy just continues to impress me. He played some crowd favorite trap music, and even threw in some hip-hop, as he is known to do so. I loved seeing everyone’s reaction when Mayhem played his newest banger, “Karate.” It’s one of those tracks that make dance floors go crazy! Check it out below, it is definitely worth sharing.

I think this event was a strong way for Liquified to end a successful year of shows. Big props to those guys for putting in hard work each week to deliver great events to the city of Atlanta. Providing three huge names in Atlanta’s trap and hip-hop scene all under one roof made for a great night. With 2015 just around the corner, it’s looking like it will be a huge year for this promoter; and we look forward to seeing what they have in store for Atlanta in the new year.

Flosstradamus Headlines Epic Show At The Tabernacle (Atlanta)

Just recently, the trap music icons known as Flosstradamus came into Atlanta to play what most could argue the best show they’ve had in a long time. This was one of the last few stops before the duo’s huge HDYNATION 2014 Tour came to a close. I don’t think there could have been a better time than to put Atlanta, the city where the trap movement started, on the tour schedule. HDYBYZ and HDYGRLZ from all over flocked to the Tabernacle on a Saturday evening just before Christmas to see a show that many of the attendees were unprepared to witness. Along with Flosstradamus for the night was Curtas Williams with Two-9, and GTA. But little did the fans know, they were in for a huge surprise with the special guests Floss was also bringing.

Although it was a rather chilly December night in Atlanta, loyal fans of HDYNATION braved the cold and gathered early outside the historic Tabernacle venue to see their beloved HDYBYZ. Fans were covered in their floss outfits ready to throw those warning signs up!

The place was rocking the entire time. Both of the openers did a really great job hyping up the crowd just before Floss came on. Aside from Flosstradamus, I am a fan of GTA as well, so getting to enjoy them to start the night off for me was a treat. GTA was a strong addition to this tour because they cover different genres; so that changed it up a little and packed a bass punch for the audience.By the time GTA was finished, the crowd was all amped up to see Flosstradamus perform next.

The guys came out on stage with their HDYNATION flags flying high and opened the set up with their newest banger that is highly anticipated, “Prison Riot” with GTA and Lil Jon. Here’s a video below of the unreleased track from this show. You can see in the video just how intense that pit was for this show as well.

Floss continued to play a killer set with heavy trap and hip-hop music, and throughout the night they brought out their special guests Travis Porter, Mike Will Made It, DJ Spinz HOODRICH, Rae Sremmurd, Casino, and of course, Waka Flocka. All of these guests that Floss brought out played a role in their successful career. Floss was literally taking the crowd on a journey through their set with guests to show how they got where they are today. Floss wanted to show Atlanta how and why they call Atlanta their second home. Some of the fans did not quite understand why the guys were bringing out a lot of special guests, but I saw it as a huge tribute out of respect for all of those who had helped Flosstradamus along the way. I felt like there was no better way than to bring out these Atlanta all-stars in front of a hometown crowd. I think most of the fans who really know where Flosstradamus came from did in fact appreciate them not just making the show about themselves here. It truly showed how selfless these guys really are by sharing the spotlight, and that they are grateful they have had big time support from both artists and fans.

The show had some memorable moments like Rae Sremmurd and his crew coming out and performing, “No Flex Zone,” Waka Flocka dancing in the crowd, and Casino coming out to rap his part in, “Mosh Pit.” Of course, what would a huge Floss show be without the famed mosh pit, right? The crowd had a couple mosh pits throughout the night and even one big wall of death toward the end! The show was nonstop fun and I feel like that might have been one of Flosstradamus’s best shows yet. I was even able to speak with Casino after the show, and he said, “This show right here… Man, I can’t believe how awesome it was. That crowd vibe took me back to when we played in Vegas at EDC. It was one of the best shows we have done all year, I think.” I couldn’t have agreed more with Casino; the crowd’s vibe was unbelievable. I left the show with more respect for Flosstradamus after seeing how well they were able to take the audience on a journey of their success story.

Flosstradamus really goes beyond just EDM, the guys have been a big help in the Atlanta hip-hop side of music as well. Floss always claims to have much love for the city of Atlanta because it was such a huge part of their come up, so it truly is like a second home for them. They perfectly mixed together a performance full of incredible trap music along with some great hip hop songs thrown in. I can easily say that this was one of the top shows that I have had the pleasure of covering in 2014. If you’re into high energy shows with heavy hitting, hip-hop influenced trap music, then Flosstradamus is definitely worth your money.

Keys N Krates Headline the QUAD’s Function Friday

Keys N Krates describe Atlanta as one of the “weirdest and most unique places they’ve ever played.” That sounds about accurate when you’re booked at the QUAD on a Friday. Tickets were an insanely low $10 if you got them early enough. Compare that to other stops on the same tour at $35 and be glad you live in ATL. The QUAD is not going to blow you away with elaborate LED stages or a place to go to be seen but what they do focus on is what matters most, the music. When I walked in I was stunned by the talent that is Ralph and Louie. Being new to Atlanta I hadn’t heard them before but they have 20 years experience and it shows. In the South, the house music genre often gets pushed to the side stage at the club. Ralph and Louie are purists and are keeping the genre relevant in ATL. I’ve spent plenty of time in Chicago and Miami, Ralph and Louie could easily have a residency in a club there.

ScreenHunter_09 Dec. 21 11.29

The QUAD also excels at providing a good time and getting people dancing. Keys N Krates recently provided the soundtrack that got Amber Rose twerking on Chris Brown so combine the two and you have a night that kept the crowd dancing until the early morning. 4am to be exact and even after Keys N Krates set was over Midnight Panda kept the venue full.

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AySXI77x-7s&w=560&h=315]

Keys N Krates set included all their staples like “Dum Dee Dum” and remixes from their “Every Nite” EP which achieved critic and fan acclaim. My favorite song of the night was a remix of “hypnotik” that was mixed in but never fully played. The track can be found in its entirety below. Keys N Krates played my favorite set of TomorrowWorld due to the high level of mixing, song selection and true DJ skills on display. This set was completely different but featured those same elements. Better music for $10 on a Friday night is going to be hard to find.

Audien Performs at Opera Nightclub – Recap (Atlanta)

Grammy nominee, Audien came to Atlanta and put on an excellent show at Opera Nightclub. This trance/progressive house producer is best known for his popular remix of Bastille’s, Pompeii, which is actually the track that earned him the Grammy nomination for the best Remixed Recording. This is huge for Audien considering he is competing with the likes of Tiesto, Kaskade, Galantis, and Robin Schulz for this award. I have seen Audien a few times now, and each time has been a great experience. Audien has a lot of support from a number of big names in electronic music such as Above & Beyond, Tiesto, Ferry Corsten, Armin van Buuren and even Hardwell. With this many names supporting Audien, he is getting tons of spotlight and gaining respect along the way.

Opening for Audien was a new DJ and producer from Atlanta, Stellar Shores. Though is a new producer, he’s definitely one to look out for in the near future. Stellar Shores built up the crowd’s energy with some great house music. He did a great job with setting the tone for the night, he even threw in a little bass in the mix. But what’s a show in Atlanta without a some bass, right?

audien pic 2

Audien came on and played a really enjoyable set. I really like the way he transitions the trance and progressive house together. I will admit that I like his work from Ajunabeats a little more than from Spinnin’. It seemed like he stuck with more of his progressive side for this show, but the crowd was loving it so I don’t blame him. One of the tracks that really stood out was his newest edit of Van Halen’s, “Jump.” I always loved the original track from Van Halen, but hearing a trance sounding version of it was interesting.

audien1

Audien is definitely one to add to your list of DJ’s to experience live. Each time I’ve seen him, his sets were all different but still amazing. If you have seen him, I’m sure you would agree that he is incredible live. Check out Audien’s latest remix track of Van Halen’s, “Jump” below.

Flosstradamus HDYNation Tour Headed To Atlanta

ATL, you are in for quite a treat in two weeks. The HDYBYZ, otherwise known as Flosstradamus, are finishing up their last leg of the HDYNation 2014 tour. The pioneers behind the exploding trap movement have a huge following, especially here in Atlanta where the movement all began. So what better way wrap up a tour with “Traplanta” near the end of it? Flosstradamus seems to have such a great following because for most people, Floss was the first to bring them into the trap world. The guys have a formula for success in the trap genre, and they continue to kill it as the EDM community progresses month after month.

flosstradamushdynation

Flosstradamus has certainly blown up over the last few years just gaining fans as they go; and they boys show no signs of slowing down. This past year has proven to be quite a busy one for them. The duo performed at major music festivals such as Ultra, EDC, TomorrowLand, and Coachella, just to name a few. Not only that, they found time to put out some banger tracks and remixes as well. Some notable tracks include their remix of Steve Aoki’s, “Rage The Night Away,” Krewella & Headhunterz, “United Kids of the World,” and their own “TTU,” featuring Waka Flocka. Being the Floss fan that I am, I made sure to listen in on every live set that I could since I couldn’t be at every festival they played at. With each set, whether it was that incredible Ultra Miami set, or the bass knocking EDC Las Vegas performance, I could just feel the energy from simply listening to it through my speakers. The guys absolutely bring it each and every night, so you better believe that they will do it once again when they take the decks at the Tabernacle here in Atlanta.

The way Flosstradamus performs speaks louder than any way that I could describe to you with my own words, you will just have to get yourself down to the Tabernacle on Saturday the 20th and see for yourself. If you have not yet seen Flosstradamus live, you are truly in for one crazy night of booty shaking and turning up. A friendly word of advice for you HDYBYZ and HDYGRLZ that are going to the show, rest up before you go. The turn up Floss brings will be through the roof! Also if you haven’t had the chance to hear one of their live sets, below are both the Ultra Music Festival Miami and EDC Las Vegas sets. These will surely get you pumped up for this show, and have you shaking it wherever you are! Oh, and make sure you get your tickets now if you haven’t already; because this is definitely a show you do not want to miss out on.
