LooKas Drops First Original Single – LOKO (Free Download)

Miami native Lucas Rego, better known as LooKas, released his first original single yesterday afternoon called, “LOKO.” LooKas is definitely becoming a game changer in the trap side of EDM. The track was aired live Tuesday night on Mixify with their Turnup Tuesday LOKO Release Party. The track can be considered as Trap-House, or otherwise known as Festival Trap; because of the track’s house music influence and its heavy hitting Trap drop.

We’ve heard LooKas tear up DVBBS & Borgeous’s, “Tsunami,” bass boost W&W and Blasterjaxx’s festival favorite, “Rocket,” and now we have the new festival banger, “LOKO.” Check out this great track down below, and grab your free download of the track now. You are definitely going to be putting this track on repeat.

Mayhem & Friends Bring The Party to Opera Nightclub (Atlanta, Ga)

Last week in the heart of Atlanta, Anthony Rotella, otherwise known as Mayhem, came back to his hometown of ATL to perform. Mayhem definitely brought the party along with him, rolling deep with tons of talent to party on stage with him that night. The event was named “Mayhem & Friends,” and he brought along the future-trill artist CRNKN to pack the extra punch for the nights event. The hometown hero didn’t stop there; some guest appearances on stage included Atlanta trap star Heroes X Villains, Lil B, Mr. Collipark, Downlink, Butch Clancy, DJ Nappy, DJ Spinz, and many more.

The night was a constant party from start to finish at opera. The energy was incredible and with each track the guys played, the energy continued to build. The crew that Mayhem brought was bouncing around all over the stage engaging the crowd for every minute. I’ve covered events at Opera Nightclub before, and I have not seen a performance like that in a long time. As I walked around, everyone seemed to be having a blast with Mayhem and his crew behind the decks. Mayhem took to Facebook after his show to thank his fans, the venue, and the organizers for one special night to remember. Here is the thank you status that he made below:

Mayhem and Friends was not the only event that was going on at Opera Nightclub that Friday night. A local group known as Atlanta EDM debuted their first Atlanta EDM Showcase in the back room of the club. They had their own lineup of local talent playing music; as well as free TomorrowWorld swag, free food, and a kandi making area. The group also did a free TomorrowWorld day pass giveaway at the showcase as well. Between the main room with Mayhem, and the back room with the Atlanta EDM Showcase, there was plenty of fun and entertainment to go around. As I looked around the room at the showcase, I saw many people making kandi bracelets, mingling together, and taking pictures with all the cool TomorrowWorld merchandise. That was exactly what Atlanta EDM wanted to accomplish with the showcase. The goal was to not only let the community know who they are as a group, but to give people a chance to meet one another and hang out at events. The girls behind Atlanta EDM, Traci Yoshimura and Cat Martinez, could not have been more pleased with the way that the showcase turned out; and they are looking forward to having more showcases in the near future. The group is slowly beginning to make a presence within the EDM community of Atlanta. Below is the awesome flyer that Atlanta EDM used to announce the showcase.

If you missed last Friday’s event at Opera do not worry. Mayhem has earned himself a quarterly residency with Liquified events and Opera Nightclub. Expect to see Mayhem & Friends rolling through Atlanta quite often going forward. Also the Atlanta EDM Showcase was a great success as well. The group is going to continue to hold showcases on certain Fridays during Liquified’s events. Make sure you stay on the lookout for both of these events in the future, because you definitely do not want to miss out on either of them.

Deorro Throws Tantrum At TomorrowLand; Gets Trolled By Deadmau5

As many of you very well know, ID&T just concluded the first of a two weekend extravaganza celebrating the 10-year anniversary of Tomorrowland in Belgium. Though the weekend was surely filled with great memories and stunning shows, Tomorrowland did receive a dampener from one certain disgruntled artist in the form of the panda man himself—Deorro.

In case you haven’t checked out Twitter over the weekend, Deorro furiously shared his sentiments over festival staff denying his agent a food token after seeing another artist receiving nine, suggesting his unfair treatment as a performer:

Clearly Deorro spewed these tweets and several others out in a stream of consciousness, and was so upset to the point where he threatened to cancel his set. From what I could tell, it wasn’t about the money or the food to him, rather the principle of treating your guests right. However, threatening to turn your back on a festival over food is a bit extreme.

Later on, Deorro does clarify exactly what happened, though. He was moreso upset that a staff member tried to disallow him giving his food to someone else, which changes the perspective a bit:

I do believe Deorro overreacted in not wanting to play one of the most famous international dance music festivals over a dispute on complimentary food. Upon this explanation though, it does seem miserly of that staff member to stop Deorro from giving his food to his manager. It is Deorro’s food after all, and if he’s not going to eat it and wants to give it to his hungry agent, passing that food along shouldn’t be a big deal, therefore Deorro had every right to feel upset over those questionable ethics of the hospitality staff.
This situation teaches us three valuable lessons:

One, we’ve seen an example of the greed that apparently exists in the festival industry. Hospitality is huge whenever you want to leave a lasting impression on artists that perform at your event—they want to feel welcomed and appreciated for coming. Food, especially just for one manager, shouldn’t be a problem. And the fact that the staff made this issue to begin with, especially when another artist received nine food tickets, means that they were acting greedily and treated Deorro unfairly. However…

Two, saying things in the heat of the moment can get you in hot water. Though Deorro was justifyably angry, he jeopardized a valuable relationship with a festival by taking his thoughts to social media. His problem was with one staff member, not an entire festival, so it wasn’t very appropriate to blame uninvolved parties. Deorro is human though, and humans make mistakes; he has gone on to apologize for his excessive reaction and using a homophobic epithet in the process (that tweet has since been deleted). Taking the high road and admitting his fault shows the strength of his character. As it turns out, Deorro did not actually pull out of the festival and performed for many eager fans on Saturday.

Three, last but not least, if you say foolish things on the internet, and you are a DJ, you will get trolled by Deadmau5. Without any mercy. In keeping with his trolling ways, Deadmau5 couldn’t resist teasing and throwing in his two cents over this fiasco. Deorro is not going to live this one down for a while! Check out deadmaus5’s Twitter page for more, but these are a couple glorious examples:

Lastly, how do you feel about this latest Twitter explosion? Do you think Deorro was within reason or out of bounds for his reaction? What, if any issues within the scene does it bring to light for you? Let us know in the comments!

Moonrise Music Festival 2014 (Baltimore, MD)

Moonrise Festival is set to have another go coming in August of 2014. This is the first installment of Moonrise, but it is actually the second attempt. The festival was supposed to happen last year but was cancelled about a month prior due to a permit issue. The festival organizers are ready to try again, only this time, they have put together a banger of a lineup to make up for last year’s loss. The festival is set to take place on August 9th-10th in the Pimlico Race Course, a short distance north of Baltimore, Maryland. Below is an overhead shot of the Pimlico Race Course in Maryland.

The lineup for Moonrise Festival is quite impressive with headliners including Kaskade and Bassnectar. The festival is also bringing along Adventure Club, Bro Safari, Carnage, Excision, DJ Snake, and many more. This lineup will surely make everyone feel better about the unfortunate cancellation for last year. With just a few weeks until this festival is under way, there are still tickets available. With this kind of lineup, you’d think that the price of the tickets would be outrageous right? Wrong! In fact, the tickets are set at a very reasonable rate of $150 for the two day pass, and $95 for one day passes. This kind of ticket pricing is hard to pass up with as many great artists that Moonrise has to offer. Below is the full lineup flyer for Moonrise Festival 2014. Make sure you head over to moonrisefestival.com and secure your tickets today before they sell out!

Dada Life – ‘One Smile’ Music Video Premier (VIDEO)

The Swedish duo out of Stokholm, known as Dada Life released the music video for their latest hit single, “One Smile,” on YouTube yesterday. The video received a tremendous response from the people of Dada Land around the world. The two producers decided not to, “make something ugly” as they like to say; but rather make people smile big instead. The music video was filmed in Melbourne, Austraila, at the Future Music Festival. The guys definitely followed the meaning of the song, “All you need is one smile,” by putting big smiles on everyone’s faces. You will also see some cool cameos of different EDM superstars like Martin Garrix, Carnage, and even Hardwell with some super large smiles on their faces.

The group talks in an interview about being in Australia earlier this year during the spring. “We have always loved the energy there so we had a camera crew follow us around the festival and in Melbourne on an off-day between shows to capture us and our fans spreading happiness by having people wear the smile masks.” The two also included, “We’ve been giving the masks out at our shows for a while now and seeing all of those happy faces is so amazing for us that we thought we could use the video to show everyone how great it feels. The Citizens of Dada Land who you see in the video are really who made it all happen!”

Below is the music video for Dada Life’s track “One Smile.” Check it out and see if it puts a big smile on your face like it did for us!

Possible Expansion To Brazil For TomorrowLand In 2015

We are getting reports from different news outlets about TomorrowLand making another expansion to Brazil in 2015. The news of this expansion first broke on a Brazilian entertainment blog called, Omelete. While ID&T have not officially confirmed this yet, the news is being spread like wildfire. The alleged venue for the TomorrowLand site is said to be near Sao Paulo in Parque Maeda. TomorrowLand expanded to Chattahoochee Hills, Georgia, last year for the first time with TomorrowWorld which received a huge response with great success. Expansion to Brazil would put this festival in a great location; and this could ultimately give more people an opportunity to experience this magical festival that maybe wouldn’t be able to make it to TomorrowLand in Belgium, or TomorrowWorld in the U.S.

Former Adult Film Star Sasha Grey Is A DJ?

It seems as though everyone is trying their hand in the DJ world these days. We thought we had seen it all with Shaq, AKA DJ DIESEL, playing his first DJ gig a few weeks ago; and when Paris Hilton shocked the world by becoming a DJ back in 2012. Now we have another celebrity that is taking a shot at being a DJ, only this time, it is a former adult film star. That’s right, former porn star Sasha Grey has become an EDM DJ.

Grey quit the adult film industry back in 2011 to completely focus on her band she formed back in 2008 called aTelecine, which was an industrial music group. The music seemed to be just a bunch of noises compiled together to create what they called music. After a few short years with the group, Grey left the group in July of 2013. Sasha moved on to focus on becoming an EDM DJ instead shortly thereafter leaving aTelecine. One of the most recent mixes from Grey dates back to March of this year. The mix is a collab with another DJ by the name of A-cup, go figure. The mix is labeled as “Progressive,” though it actually contains more of big room and electro.

Below is her so-called “Progressive” mix with DJ A-cup. Check it out and see if you think she is actually good or not. Ultimately this leads to the question: Who’s next in line to become a DJ from the celebrity world? Perhaps Sasha and Paris Hilton can team up. I’m sure they are really good at scratching and twisting the knobs… Pun intended.

Carnage Reveals ‘Parental Advisory Tour 2014’ for North America [Dates TBA]

On Tuesday, July 8th, the EDM juggernaut known as Carnage announced his upcoming tour for this fall. This tour will be Carnage’s very first North American bus tour. Carnage has exploded within the last 8 months with his unforgettably epic sets. Carnage played his first festival at Ultra Music Festival 2013 in Miami, where he had an early 2 PM time-slot. For this year in 2014, things have changed dramatically for the DJ. Carnage went from playing that early slot in 2013 in Miami, to headlining Ultra Music Festival Miami this year with a prime-time spot. Within exactly one year, the founder of Chipotle Gang himself has went from opener to headliner of major music festivals around the globe.

Everyone has been on the edge of their seats to see when and where Carnage will be playing next. This was the moment that Chipotle Gang USA has all been waiting for. Carnage took to social media around noon Tuesday announcing his tour along with a preview video. Below is his tweet announcing the tour and you can check out the cool video as well.

Stay tuned for dates and locations to be announced next week on July, 15th. If you are apart of the Carnage Fan Club, you will be able to purchase tickets on the day of the dates announcement. Full sale of tickets will be released on July, 24th.
